MREMS Receives Award Recognizing Partnership with Middlebury College

The Tiffany Nourse Sargent ’79 Engaged Partnership Award is given annually to honor an educational partnership between Middlebury College and a community organization to address community needs. This year, MREMS was privileged to receive this prestigious award.

Tiffany Nourse Sargent '79 Engaged Partner Award

This partnership brings together Middlebury College Students and Middlebury Regional EMS to educate, train, and certify students as Emergency Medical Technicians. The partnership also allows current Middlebury College students who already hold an EMT certification to continue their training and work alongside MREMS staff and volunteers.

This program came to fruition in 2011 thanks to a vision from former member Ed Sullivan. The class and program has been a continuous success, and we have Ed to thank for that. Sadly, Ed passed away in 2016; we honor him with this program and are sure he would be beaming with pride to have MREMS receive this award.

We are grateful to Middlebury College and the Middlebury First Responders for this opportunity to continue our work together.
